Post Xmas Activities

Just a couple pictures of what I did post Christmas. Pictures freely stolen from Olivia and Joyce. Yay for Olivia visiting the Bay Area. I hope she had a great time here again, and sorry to say it was so cold here. Boo for the west coast being colder than the midwest or the east coast... On Christmas day, Olivia, Jeanie, her cousin Ryan and I drove up to see the city. Pretty much everything was closed except for Chinatown. One thing that stood out. Dick Lee's Pastry Shop. I wish Richard was there to see that.Lots of good stuff to buy in Chinatown. Little trinkets and such. Got myself a nice mug. Can't wait to drink more tea... I love being a FOB.Union Square in front of the Christmas tree. Too bad we didn't take a picture in front of the monstrous metallic menorah.Apparently, Tony Bennett painted this heart, since he left his there in San Francisco.Visiting the most crookedest street in the world.View of the city from the top of Lombard. The über rainy day after Christmas, the four of us with Joyce went up to Napa valley for some wine tasting. Plus we met up with Jess Lee there! The first stop was at the V.Sattui Winery, which was my favorite one of those we visited for several reasons. #1: FREE wine tasting. #2: FREE cheese and dipping sauce tastings. #3: A really nice deli to buy food. My favorite wine? The 2005 Dry Johannisberg Riesling. We stuffed ourselves and ate like peasants! There's nothing better than a fresh baguette with cheese and meats. The best was the aged gouda.Later, we headed over to the downtown area of St. Helena and went to several olive oil tasting bars. I could drink the oil forever. There was this one store where we tasted all these different marinades, sauces, jams, honeys, etc. I think Joyce had a field day in there. Later, we went up to the Beringer vinery. AWFUL WINE. BLECH. VOM. Plus, Joyce and I paid to taste too. Gross. There's a reason why I don't buy this cheap stuff. I think Trader Joe's 2 Buck Chuck is superior. This is a rainy picture of it there. We spent like 30 minutes analyzing this book. It's so useful learning about all the rules when eating at the dining table. One good lesson. When at the table, don't just sit there and look like a BUFFOON. Talk to the girl next to you. Or. While getting soup in the spoon, move in a direction away from you to prevent spillage. OR. Asparagus is eaten with FINGERS. This was so relevant for our dinner at Ristorante Allegria which was absolutely amazing. The ambience was beautiful. The location was amazing. The food was to die for. I got the Risotto Al Frutti Di Mare: with Prawns, Mussels, Scallops, Saffron, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Artichoke Hearts. YUM-O. Definitely recommend and would want to return.
Ahhhhhhh. Winter break is almost coming to a close. I don't want to go back.

Go watch Babel!!

Wow. Please watch this movie. Now making comparisons with this movie to Crash would be too quick and easy. But this is so much more raw/real/superior than that piece of overrated trash that won Best Picture.Apparently, the story of Babel is about a tower called Babel built to the sky so people could reach the heavens. This angered the gods, crashed the Babel and caused people to not understand each other. Apparently that is the reason why we have different languages. And that's the whole theme of this movie. The power of miscommunication. This movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire two and a half hours. My heart was racing so much. This movie just twists and turns in every direction possible. And who knew you could connect Japan, Mexico, LA and Morocco all in one. The best performances are by Adriana Barraza who plays the Aurelia, the Mexican-American nanny and Rinko Kikuchi, who's the sexually repressed mute-deaf Chieko. Oh yeah. Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal are hot too. I smell Oscar!
edit: here's the clip of one of my favorite scenes in the movie. the part at the club is HOTT. I love the "September/Joker" mashup.I wanna go clubbing.

Michel Gondry = GENIUS

As an impulse purchase, I bought "the work of director Michel Gondry". I was always a fan of his because he did the majority of Björk's music videos and other cool stuff, ie. Cibo Matto, the Levi's commercial, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Coolest director ever. Anyways, one of the short films on the DVD features David Cross (aka Tobias from Arrested Development) as a Turd. WATCH:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRE! MWAH! You're probably out there is Rajasthan, India doing loads of good humanitarian work, while I'm here sitting on my ass in the states. Hope you're doing well and miss you so much!We all miss you.

Best Single of 2006. Avenue Q style.

Taken from here.

Must watch: Casino Royale

I'm sorry Martin! I feel so bad not watching thie movie with you. Oh MAN. So Tina, Mike and I headed on over to the AMC to watch Casino Royale. I've been DYING to see the new Bond in action. I'm not a huge action movie watcher, nor a Bond fan. I've seen several Bond movies (only those featuring the handsome Mr. Brosnan). When I first heard news that Bond was going blonde, I got a little excited. Maybe he'll bring new life in the role, besides the stereotypical egotistical icy role. Man oh man, did Daniel Craig deliver. And he has ASSETS to deliver. Every single scene he was in. JUST EXUDES SEX. Like Michelle said, "I was just lusting all over him". Hear hear to that. Previous Bonds. Yes they were cool. Yes they were handsome. But Mr. Craig here. I swear. He releases some sort of pheromone that just provokes a savage/animal hungry/I WANT YOU response. CANNOT WAIT for the next Bond movie. Finally get to know what this country is all about. Oh yeah. The girls are hot too.

I've been NOSHED!

I've been NOSHED by Mr. HOTTIE MK (aka Popbytes) today! I'm in his Daily Pop Nosh! I feel so honored. So much love. Check him out. DAILY. So much sexier than this trash or this old news.

Cats that look like Hitler

What have I been doing over break? Being a bum that is. Waking up, reading the paper, doing the sudoku/jumble/crossword while watching the catfights on the View. THIS is paradise. Being the total NYERD, I assigned myself "homework" of reading my foot tall stack of Entertainment Weekly-s, Rolling Stones, Giants, Interviews, etc. But the best reading material by far is Details. The male equivalent to Vogue that has yet to come out of the closet, but with FUNNY/LAUGHOUTLOUD writing. This is where I found this:Cats that look like Hitler. aka Kitlers. PUAHAHA.

Hello. I'm anti-cat. Shudders. Such bad species. I had a mini-stroke when I saw this.Ralph Lauren Polo for DOGS??? OMFG SO CUTE. Must get one for Bebe. She needs to be decked out in style. I forsee myself as one of those old men with a little pooch in purse. Sad.

Yay!!! Tina and Mike are here! Plus Olivia's coming too! MUST HANG OUT.

Bebe

Say hello to Miss Beeeeeeeeeeebe :-DMore pictures coming soon.

Best baby makin song ever

This song has to be one of my favorites ever. Remember Savage Garden? Forget truly madly deeply. Don't think about chic-a-cherry-cola. Listen to "Universe".Funny how I got introduced to this song. I was listening to WJHU sophomore year, probably doing some awful signals and systems homework. Universe was playing and I was like WHOA, this song is awesome. By the time the song finished, the announcer said "That was #7 on our list of best songs to strip to." Man. I need to find more stripping songs.

Give it on up for Homelessville

During sophomore year, Judy and I fell in love with Justin's SNL episode. Every sketch was classic. One our favorites was this:I'm pissed I can't find entire clip. Stupid copyright infringements!

So apparently, yesterday's episode of SNL was hosted and performed by JT again! damn it! I missed it. Luckily, there are clips online. And the best followup sketch. "Christmas isn't about Santa kicking the cup o' soup in the croutons!!" Here's the link. edit: thanks Judy for finding this!

Man. I want his dick in a box.

Listen to: The Pipettes!

Back home in California. Miss Chicago already. Weird huh? Spent all day playing with Bebe (my brother's new schnauzer) and eating at In-n-Out.

Anyways, I can't stop listening to this:their vocals remind me of them:and their strings remind me of them:I miss girl groups.

And holiday season isn't complete without a straight George Michael.

Christmas Treats!

Ahhhhhhh! I love you Stacy and Jess Lee!!! You guys are awesome!
So I get home after part 1 of my 2 day exam before the holidays, and I have a package slip that awaits! oooOOOooooooOOOOOoooh. That's the sound I make whenever I receive a package slip. Turns out it was a huge package from Stacy and Jess all the way from Baltimore!! with Christmas treats!! Coconut-cranberry macaroons! Orange nut bars! Chocolate and peanut biscotti! Peppermint bark! And yes! Rice krispies treats! I love you guys! Definitely good study food for part 2 (aka anatomy/histology) tomorrow. GOING HOME TO CALIFORNIA TOMORROW! W00T!

And! I forgot to post up picture when we went "ice skating". I think we went a little too late and it was crowded. Jiyeon, Jefferson and I headed over to Millennium Park for the skating rink. It was like a 2 hour wait to get skates, so it wasn't as successful as we thought it would be. But Jiyeon went, cuz she had her ice skates! So nice! Plus we did get to see a proposal in the middle of the rink. REALLY cheesy but cute nonetheless. Would you want to be proposed like that in front of hundreds of people?

Ain't Gonna Look the Other Way vs. I Choose Life

I don't know why this song wasn't a hit. One of Celine's hidden gems. Celine's "Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way".Apprently, Keisha White chose to cover it call it "I Choose Life".AWFUL. I choose Celine.

My Most Played Songs of 2006

Listen to: Camera Obscura, Popbytes!

So, I've been linking to all these cool indie music. Basically, I've been feeding off of my favorite music site, Stylus, for all these recommendations. You should definitely check that site out. Awesome new song for today:So I was listening to/watching the awesome Camera Obscura song, Jiyeon came over and said, I know them. I was like WHOAAAA. Here's a picture of her and the band!Jiyeon's the girl with the purse in the back. Apparently, she's close in touch with them because they have the Scotland connection. Awesome.

And guess what. I've been linked on one of my favorite pop blogs, Popbytes! This is SO EXCITING! I read his site religiously, and so should you. I'm an Super Awesome Pop Blog! Why am I in medical school? And why am I not studying for the exam tomorrow. AGH! Back to penile and clitoral stimulation. Just for fun. Things I learned today in lecture:
*clitoral erection. only tip of the iceberg.
*androgens don't increase the size of your penis after development
*but it can increase the size of your clitoris.
*ejaculate/climax can be achieved with out penile/clitoral erection
*the flaccid penis has CONTRACTED smooth muscle
*during stimulation, the uterus elevates towards the rectum and the clitoris retracts!
*the French have REALLY helpful anatomy diagrams of your genitals

Soy makes you gay

Wow. I am worried about the state of America, when things like this are printed and believed as fact.

"There's a slow poison out there that's severely damaging our children and threatening to tear apart our culture....

The dangerous food I'm speaking of is soy. Soybean products are feminizing, and they're all over the place....

Unfortunately, when you eat or drink a lot of soy stuff, you're also getting substantial quantities of estrogens.

Estrogens are female hormones. If you're a woman, you're flooding your system with a substance it can't handle in surplus. If you're a man, you're suppressing your masculinity and stimulating your "female side," physically and mentally....

Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality. That's why most of the medical (not socio-spiritual) blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products."

Listen to: Morningwood

SO FUN!

Listen to: Mika

I sense hotness coming along. This guy is born in Beirut and raised in Paris, London, blah blah blah. Listen to him. You'll have fun with it.

Listen to: Nâdiya

love this song!

onomatopoeia...

aren't languages fascinating? I was watching this video:which has a lot of Japanese onomatopoeia. This spurred a conversation with Jefferson how similar and different some of the onomatopoeia are between Korean and Japanese languages. And then I found this cool site that shows how different countries think how something sounds. I like the sirens, piggies, and roosters. SO FUN.no more procrastination today. except oh yeah. i'm going to the planetarium. what? there's a test this Friday? HEURF.
